It started just before 8 p.m. on Monday, March 27, Northampton Township police said in a release. Officers were called to the 950 Second Street Pike McDonalds, where a man in dark clothes had "displayed a knife and announced a robbery," the department said.
The suspect fled the burger restaurant in Honda with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. Minutes later, dispatchers were alerted to a car crash on Sackettsford in Rushland, authorities said. They arrived to find a car matching the description of the robbery suspect's vehicle, but the driver was gone, police wrote.
Northampton Township police launched a search and were joined by officers from Newtown, Buckingham, Upper Southampton, Warwick, Solebury, and K9 and drone units from Lower Makefield, according to the release.
Justin Ware, 34, was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, Northampton police said. He was charged with robbery and related counts before being remanded to the Bucks County lockup in lieu of a $100,000 bond, court records show.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that the McDonald's robbery was "linked to other incidents in the area," and said that Ware had outstanding warrants before his arrest Monday.
