The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. It started when the red 2014 Jeep ran the light on Newportville Road onto Bristol Pike and struck a pickup truck, the outlet said quoting Bristol police.

The Jeep then rear-ended a sedan that was stopped on Bristol Pike, ten struck a house and drove into the creek. Witnesses say they saw the driver try to escape, but then the car sank behind Water's Edge Gastropub on Totem Road in Bensalem.

Multiple units arrived on scene, where the vehicle was submerged in 15 feet of water, Bensalem fire officials said.

Battalion 222 established command and placed Marine 222, Marine 16 and Marine 11 in-service. Command requested Bucks County Special Ops Dive Team and the Philadelphia Police Dive Team responded to the scene. Crews cleared the scene at approximately 12:40 p.m.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene, a source told the outlet.
