Phillies Fan Hospitalized After Scary Fall Into Red Sox Bullpen

A Phillies fan who fell into the Red Sox bullpen during the Friday evening, May 5 game was hospitalized, pausing the game as it was just getting started.

Red Sox players called for help after the fan fell over a railing and into the visitor's bullpen at Citizens Bank Park during the first inning.

A ball was tossed to a fan and landed in a flower bed above the bullpen, fan tried to reach down and get the ball but ended up in the bullpen, NBC Sports reporter Taryn Hatcher said.

In a statement to various outlets, the Phillies said the fan was responsive and conscious on the way to Jefferson Hospital for treatment.

The game resumed after approximately 10 minutes.

The game ended with the Sox winning 5-3.
