PA Teen Hospitalized After Rescuing Neighbor During House Fire: Reports A teenage hero and the woman he rescued from an Ephrata house fire are in the hospital, according to reports citing fire officials. The call to the fire in the 100 block of East Chestnut Street came into Lancaster County Wide Communications at 5:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, according to dispatch logs. The blaze soon closed the street near Grape Alley, as Fox43 reported. A neighbor came to rescue a resident and a dog from the home the outlet explained citing Jim Kiefer, the PIO for Ephrata Fire Co., who noted that two people were injured and taken to the hospital. Vietnam Veteran, PA Firefighter, Blaine Horn, Dies On 9/11 A former firefighter in multiple counties in Pennsylvania and a Vietnam veteran died on Wednesday, Sept. 11, his former station announced. Blaine W. Horn, 75, of Slatedale, passed away at his home, according to his obituary posted on Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc.'s website.  He was known in his community as the former Fire Chief of Citizen’s Fire Company #1 for over 40 years and the current Fire Marshal of Slatedale, but his service to his community dates back much further.   Blaine has been an active member of various fire services for over 60 years, according to his obituary. Man Critically Hurt In South Philly Fire, Officials Say An apartment caught fire on Thursday, July 18, sending one man to the hospital with serious injuries, Philadelphia police said.  The blaze happened above a vacant barber shop on the 1900 block of South 22nd Street around 9 a.m., authorities wrote in a release. The home was "engulfed in flames" when first responders arrived.  The 63-year-old victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Philadelphia on Cedar Avenue in critical condition, police said. The Fire Marshal was called to the scene, they added.

Early Morning Pottstown Fire Sends 5 To Hospital, Officials Say Multiple residents are being treated for injuries and smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in Pottstown on Thursday, May 30.  First responders were called to the Robert P. Smith Towers, 501 High Street, just after 6 a.m., according to borough officials.  They arrived to find a blaze on the fifth floor and began "rescue and fire suppression efforts," authorities said.  The state police and Pottstown borough fire marshals are investigating the cause.
