Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Pick-Up Truck, Car In Baltimore County, Police Say The Baltimore Police Department has identified the 52-year-old man who was killed after being struck by two vehicles crossing the road. Jose Rivas was attempting to cross Liberty Road in the area of Brubar Court in Gwynn Oak on Friday night, when he was struck by both a 2014 Dodge Ram and a 2017 Nissan Altima. The crash was reported at around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. Both drivers stayed at the scene after striking him. Rivas was pronounced dead at the scene by Baltimore County Fire Department personnel. Driver Killed In Single-Vehicle Spotsylvania Crash Identified By Sheriff (Developing) A 49-year-old man was killed early on Friday morning in a single-vehicle Spotsylvania crash, the sheriff's office confirmed. Local resident Marcus Dwayne Coleman has been identified by investigators as the driver and only person involved in a crash on Oct. 18 in the 3900 block of Shepherds Road. The crash was reported at around 8:15 a.m. on Friday. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene. Residents Rescued From Roof Of Hagerstown House Fire Some residents had to be rescued in Washington County on Saturday morning when a house fire broke out in Hagerstown, officials say.
