Two people were found dead inside a burning home in Middle Paxton Township, Dauphin County, early Thursday morning, Jan. 9, following reports of an explosion, Pennsylvania State Police announced. A duck hunter was rescued from the Susquehanna River after his canoe flipped, Dauphin - Middle Paxton Fire Company announced on Sunday, Jan. 6. The incident happened just after 6:30 a.m., when crews were dispatched for a water rescue near Middle Paxton Township. Emergency responders were informed that a hunter’s canoe had overturned, leaving him stranded in the river, according to the fire company. A Pennsylvania state trooper shot a woman following a standoff in Middle Paxton Township on Thursday, Dec. 26, Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo said. The standoff occurred in the 400 block of Fried Drive and escalated when the woman, identified as Samantha Leigh Atherholt, fired multiple shots, Chardo explained on Friday, Dec. 27.
