A major gas leak that shut down the Camp Hill Shopping Center has been contained, and the area has now reopened, authorities announced.
The incident began at the shopping center on the 100 block of South 32nd Street in Camp Hill, Cumberland County, on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 12:29 p.m., according to a release from Camp Hill police.
Emergency crews responded to a significant gas leak, forcing all stores to close and the public to avoid the area.
As of 1:18 p.m., police confirmed the gas leak had been contained and the shopping center, along with the surrounding area, has reopened to citizens.

The update follows a shooting that occurred at an apartment building in the 100 block of Broadway on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, where a 34-year-old Hanover man was shot in the upper chest during an altercation with his neighbor, Hanover Borough Police said.

Harrisburg police are searching for Lateef Phoenix, 38, who is accused of fatally shooting 34-year-old Darius Stukes near Hunter and Nectarine streets in the early hours of Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, authorities announced on Thursday, Dec. 7.
