PA State Trooper Peter Conforti Dies: 'Beautiful Human' The Pennsylvania State Police Department has announced the death of Trooper Peter K. Conforti. On Thursday, Aug. 1, the department said Conforti, who had been assigned to Troop L in Hamburg, died while off-duty. Conforti enlisted in the PSP in April 2016. Records show he was 30 years old and lived in Tamaqua. Condolences from loved ones shared to Facebook say he leaves behind his wife, Alexandra, and at least one child. 7-Eleven Selling These Four Pennsylvania Locations 7-Eleven Inc. is looking to sell or lease 73 of its stores, four of which are in Pennsylvania. NRC Realty & Capital Advisors LLC is helping with the process, having posted a list of all of the sites along with a bid deadline of Tuesday, Nov. 1. Some of the stores are some of the 3,800 Speedway stores that 7-Eleven purchased in May 2021. 1 Killed, Another Hurt In Head-On Berks County Crash: PA State Police One person was killed and another injured in a Berks County crash Monday, March 14, authorities said. A Jordan M. Smith, 22, was driving south on Route 61 just south of Hughes Hill Road in Windsor Township when his car crossed the center lane and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a car driven by Randy A. Leh, 57, around 6:45 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police said. Smith, of Tamaqua, died at the scene, while Reh, of Wyomissing, was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, according to police. Man Killed In Schuylkill County Parking Lot Crash With Pillar A 67-year-old man died after hitting a pillar in a store parking lot Wednesday in Schuylkill County, authorities said. Arnold Kremmerer was rushed to the hospital after the 2:45 p.m. crash at 45 Plaza Ln., in Tamaqua (Rush Township), the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said. The cause of death was blunt force injuries.  The Nesquehoning man was pronounced dead at at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest around 4:30 p.m., officials said. In addition to this office, this death is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police, Frackville Barracks.

36 More Defiant Pennsylvania Restaurants Closed Pennsylvania officials announced three dozen more restaurants that have closed following defiance of the state’s COVID-19 mitigation measures. The Department of Agriculture earlier this week said the 36 restaurants violated an indoor dining ban -- which was lifted Jan. 4 -- following unannounced inspections from Dec. 28 through Jan. 3. Gov. Wolf's temporary COVID-19 mitigation order mandated the closure of indoor dining, gyms and limiting indoor gatherings to a maximum capacity of 10 people.
