Joseph Wamah, one of the five declared dead following a mass shooting in southwest Philadelphia during Independence Day celebrations, was a "consistently positive, charismatic, selfless person," those close to him say. A north Philadelphia gas station has hired armed guards to patrol its property, citing a perceived rise in crime, according to several media reports.
