A Northampton Area High School coach is accused of carrying on a sexual "relationship" with a 17-year-old student-athlete, prosecutors say. Hannah Marth, a 26-year-old former javelin coach for the NAHS track and field team, is charged with institutional sexual assault and sexual assault by a sports official — both felonies — said District Attorney Terence Houck in a statement. Beloved Lehigh Valley native and Northampton High School graduate Kevin Scott Benton, Jr. died unexpectedly on Monday, March 28. He was 31. Born and raised in Easton, Kevin graduated from Northampton Area High School in 2011, his obituary says. Kevin was known for his love of football. He was a regular sideline fan at the Easton/Phillipsburg Thanksgiving game. A longtime sports anchor in northeast Pennsylvania has died of COVID-19 complications, officials said. Blue Ridge Cable 13 announced the sudden death of Brian Unangst on Monday. He died the day after Christmas. Unangst has shared his passion for sports with the station's viewers since joining the team in 1991, BRC13 says. He has been awarded a Mid-Atlantic Emmy award for his coverage, according to the station's website. Northampton County native, server and Sons of The American Legion member Thomas Hawk died Nov. 29 at the age of 26. Hawk was born in Allentown and attended Northampton Area High School. He then worked as a server for several local restaurants, his obituary says. Hawk was an active member of the Sons of The American Legion in Northampton and also had membership with the local Narcotics Anonymous chapter, his memorial says.
