A 45-year-old Luzerne County, PA man was arrested and charged after he slashed a woman in the abdomen and choked her in Morris County on Saturday, Oct. 5. Nationwide Recall Issued For Meat Products Due To Possible Contamination
A nationwide recall has been issued for a brand of meat products. Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc., based in Mount Olive, NJ, says the undetermined amount of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat charcuterie products containing Coppa may be under-processed, which may have resulted in possible contamination with foodborne pathogens. The recall was announced by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The Coppa products have various best-by-dates. Lehigh Valley Man Thrown From Jeep, Killed In Route 80 Crash, NJ State Police Say
A 55-year-old Lehigh Valley man was killed after being thrown from his vehicle on Route 80 before dawn Thursday, New Jersey State Police confirmed. Joseph J. Bauer was heading west in a Jeep Wrangler when he ran off the right side of the highway and crashed into a metal guardrail near milepost 26.6 in Mount Olive just before 2:50 a.m., NJSP Tpr. Beloved North Jersey mother of two Laurie Uffer died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 8. She was 40. Uffer grew up in Mount Olive, where she graduated high school in 2000, her obituary says. She later attended County College of Morris and had most recently been working as a home health provider in Washington, where she lived at the time of her death, her memorial says. Driver Hospitalized After Train Hits Tractor-Trailer In Morris County
A tractor-trailer driver was hospitalized after the vehicle was struck by a train in Morris County Tuesday morning, authorities confirmed. Morris & Essex Line train 851 hit the trailer at the crossing at the Stanhope Waterloo Valley Road in Mount Olive around 11:20 a.m., NJ Transit spokesperson Mariluz Garcia-Diaz told DailyVoice.com. Woman Wanted For Heroin Distribution In Sussex County: Police
A Sussex County woman is wanted out of Hackettstown for heroin distribution, local authorities announced. A warrant was issued Nov. 19 for 28-year-old Chelsea M. Pruden of Andover, Hackettstown police said. Specifics were not released. Pruden was arrested for crack and heroin possession following a traffic stop over the summer in Mount Olive. Anyone who knows her whereabouts is urged to call HPD at 908-852-3300.

Virginia Vertetis, infamously known as a “lady killer,” was sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison on Friday, according to a release by the Morris County police and court documents. A Warren County man was under the influence when he hit three vehicles — two of them head-on — after swerving on Route 46, authorities charged. Kevin M. Thorpe, 36, was driving westbound when he crossed the double yellow lines and side-swiped a Nissan traveling eastbound near the intersection of Mount Olive Road shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, Mount Olive police said.
