PA Girl's Disappearance Haunts Investigators Nearly 40 Years Later
Jolene Michelle Lakey was just steps from her Scranton home when she vanished nearly 40 years ago. The 11-year-old was walking back with a friend after visiting her sick mother at Mercy Hospital, now the Commonwealth Health Regional Hospital, on August 26, 1986, according to state police investigators. They parted ways after reaching her friend's house on Myrtle Street, and Lakey continued onto North Washington Avenue toward her home on the 1300 block. Search For Missing PA Woman Announced After Relative Dies From 'Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound'
A relative of a woman who had been missing since August 3 "died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound" on Sunday, August 14, Pennsylvania state police say. Tammy Berkey, of Berlin, had left her home in a red transam that Wednesday and had not been heard from since, according to her family. She was first reported missing on August 7, according to social media posts by her family. Search For Long Island Woman Goes National, Police Eye Uncooperative BF As Person Of Interest
The search for Long Island's Gabby Petito has gone national as police eye her boyfriend as a possible suspect. She and her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, left Long Island in early July for a cross-country trip in her 2012 Ford Transit van.
