A security guard fatally shot a knife-wielding man in what police are calling an act of self-defense at Treasures Banquet Hall on New Year’s Eve, Philadelphia police said. Officers from the 14th District were called to the 5500 block of Germantown Avenue for a report of a “Person with a Gun” on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., authorities said. Kristopher Laffredo, a beloved Norristown father, brother, uncle, and son, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on April 3, according to his obituary from Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home. A driver was shot dead by an officer after pinning the patrolman to a wall with his car, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel announced in a press conference late on Thursday night. Driver Killed In Head-On Collision In North Philadelphia, Police Say
One person is dead after two cars collided on a North Philadelphia street on Tuesday, Dec. 12, authorities told Daily Voice. A 55-year-old man was going south on the 5000 block of Belfield Avenue around noon when his car struck an oncoming driver head-on, police said. The 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, according to officials. Police said the other driver was taken to Jefferson Einstein Hospital but their condition was unclear.
