Vietnam Veteran, Northampton Firefighter, Blaine Horn, Dies On 9/11 A former firefighter in multiple counties in Pennsylvania and a Vietnam veteran died on Wednesday, Sept. 11, his former station announced. Blaine W. Horn, 75, of Slatedale, passed away at his home, according to his obituary posted on Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc.'s website.  He was known in his community as the former Fire Chief of Citizen’s Fire Company #1 for over 40 years and the current Fire Marshal of Slatedale, but his service to his community dates back much further.   Blaine has been an active member of various fire services for over 60 years, according to his …

Crews Respond To Back-To-Back Fires In Bethlehem City fire crews were at the scene of two blazes in Bethlehem on Tuesday, July 9, officials said.  The first fire broke out on East Broad Street and reached two alarms before being brought under control, firefighters wrote in a statement Wednesday. The second blaze was on the 1800 block of Norwood Street. Crews Battle Blaze In Allentown First responders were called to an apartment building in Allentown for a three-alarm fire on Monday evening, July 8.  The blaze broke out on the 1100 block of Hamilton Street around 5:30 p.m., said firefighters. Crews Respond To Early Morning Fire In Easton Firefighters were at the scene of a three-alarm blaze in Easton on Friday, July 5.  Forks Township fire officials said they were called to Lehigh and South 11th streets around 2 a.m. Dewey Fire Company said they assisted with suppression, search, overhaul, and cleanup and were at the site until 5 a.m. WFMZ reports the blaze spread to multiple apartments and said that one person was taken to the hospital.  Daily Voice has reached out to Easton Fire Department for additional details.  This is a developing story. Police Identify Victim In Fatal Bucks County Fire One man has died after a mobile home in Bensalem caught fire on Friday, June 7, according to police.  Authorities said they were called to Top of the Ridge Trailer Park, 1446 Gibson Road, around 5 p.m. One mobile home was "fully engulfed in flames" and another had also caught fire by the time they arrived.  Joseph Stadler, 45, was found dead inside one of the homes after firefighters put out the flames, Bensalem police said. Philly Firefighter Hurt In Hit-Run, Police Say (Updated) A firefighter in Philadelphia had their foot run over while trying to stop a driver from fleeing a crash early Monday morning, April 8, according to city police.  Authorities said the driver crashed into five parked cars on the 4700 block of Osage Avenue around 1:45 a.m. He ran over the firefighter's foot and then crashed into the side of a firetruck, authorities said. Philadelphia Fire Sends Five To Hospital, Officials Say More than 75 Philadelphia firefighters responded to an early morning blaze in Strawberry Mansion on Tuesday, March 12, according to authorities.  First responders were called to the 2800 block of Lehigh Avenue just after 3 a.m., a PFD spokesperson told Daily Voice.  Five people were treated at the scene by EMS and then taken to area hospitals, the department said.  Firefighters were on the scene for over an hour, they added.  PFD is reminding residents that free smoke alarms are available by calling 311 or 215-686-8686.

Longtime Philly Firefighter Dies On Duty, Department Says John Garrow, a longtime battalion chief with the Philadelphia Fire Department, died while on duty this week, officials say.  Garrow passed after suffering a medical emergency during his shift on Monday, Feb. 19, PFD said in a release. Carrie Ann Rafuse, 25, of Middletown, suddenly died on Wednesday, Oct. 13, according to her obituary.
