Sean Williamson, a 27-year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department, federal prosecutors announced on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024. A significant brush fire broke out at the Liberty Road Compost site, prompting a swift response from Upper Saucon police and firefighters on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at 1:27 p.m., according to officials. An 89-year-old Pennsylvania man died of serious burns suffered while burning brush at his home last month, officials said. Leo C. Pavelco, of Slatington, was burning brush at his home when his clothing caught fire around 5 p.m. April 22, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said. Pavelco was hospitalized with burns covering 30.5% of his body, and died on May 3, just after 8 p.m., at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Buglio said.

Philadelphia Fire Sends Five To Hospital, Officials Say
More than 75 Philadelphia firefighters responded to an early morning blaze in Strawberry Mansion on Tuesday, March 12, according to authorities. First responders were called to the 2800 block of Lehigh Avenue just after 3 a.m., a PFD spokesperson told Daily Voice. Five people were treated at the scene by EMS and then taken to area hospitals, the department said. Firefighters were on the scene for over an hour, they added. A 56-year-old Union County man died while trying to light a fire pit but instead sparked an explosion that may have killed him, local police said.
