Fourteen homemade bombs—including one wired to a remote detonator—were found inside a safe in a Newmanstown garage, triggering a full evacuation and the arrest of a Columbia man with a long criminal history, authorities announced Tuesday, Sept. 9. Timothy Shaeffer Jr., 40, of Columbia, PA, was safely taken into custody Tuesday evening, according to Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf. Troopers Remove 'Homemade Pipe Bombs' From Schuylkill County Home
State police are searching for answers after a pair of "homemade pipe bombs" were discovered hidden in the ceiling of a vacant Schuylkill County apartment unit. It happened on Wednesday, May 31, troopers wrote in a release. Police in Girardville Borough were called to an apartment at 30 West Main Street to investigate a "possible explosive device," authorities said. 'Explosive Devices' Found At Bucks County Residence: DA
Multiple law enforcement organizations — including federal agents — were in Bucks County on Thursday after "explosive devices" were located at a residence, officials say. It happened at a Morrisville home, said Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub's Office in a release. Authorities did not give an address but said that "a number of explosive devices" were collected Thursday morning. "We can assure the public that there is no immediate threat to the community," the DA's Office wrote. An investigation is ongoing, they added.
