The Allentown community is mourning the loss of beloved elementary school worker Jimmeka Deloris Hernandez, aka "Meka Mouse,” who died on Thanksgiving Day at the age of 36. Born in Brooklyn, Meka graduated from Allen High School before studying early childhood development at LCC, her obituary says. Meka formerly worked at the Luis A. Ramos Elementary School in Allentown, where she received the Superintendent's Parent Award of Excellence, her memorial says. Third Person Dies In Pocono Township Crash
A third victim has died in a Pocono Township crash over the weekend, officials said. A 33-year-old Hazleton man operating a Subaru WRX and 28-year-old Brooklyn woman driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue were pronounced dead at the scene the 6:30 p.m. incident at Routes 611 and 715 on Sunday, Dec. 4, township police said. A passenger in the Nissan, Ruthie Gedeon, 26, of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital. The cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries, the Lehigh Valley Coroner's Office said. Monroe County Bank Robber Learns His Fate
A New York man convicted of robbing a Monroe County bank last September will spend five years in prison, authorities have announced. Federal officials say Michael Muse, 44, of Brooklyn, walked into the ESSA Bank on Milford Road in Middle Smithfield Township on Sept. 16, 2021 and stole about $9,000 at gunpoint before fleeing the scene. The firearm was later determined to be an air pistol, authorities said. On Thursday, Oct. 27, federal Judge Malachy E. Mannion sentenced Muse to five years imprisonment, officials said in a statement.
