A Thiel College student-athlete and beloved campus leader died after collapsing during a half marathon in Erie on Sunday, July 20, 2025, the school announced on Tuesday, July 22.
Toby Marie Atwood, 21, of Kittanning, was running the Presque Isle Half Marathon when she suddenly collapsed and later died, according to Thiel College.

Champion HS Wrestler, Business Owner 47-Year-Old Andrew Cook Dies Suddenly
Andrew C. Cook, of Chester Springs, died suddenly on Friday, Aug. 30, according to an obituary published by James J. Terry Funeral Home. He was 47 years old.
Andy was a champion wrestler at Ridley Park High School, his obituary said.
He ran a successful landscaping business for many years, according to his obituary.
A GoFundMe campaign had raised more than $26,000 for his family as of Tuesday, Sept. 3.
"Andrew found his passion in the financial world as an accountant for Fearless Restaurants," as noted in his obituary. He had a gift for mathematics and numbers.

Giant Worker In Berks County Embezzled $24,000 From Employer, Police Claim
A grocery store employee in Spring Township is accused of bilking tens of thousands of dollars from her employer, authorities say.
Christina Bortz, 53, is charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, according to court records.
Spring police said Bortz works as the "checkout coach" or accounting employee at Giant and admitted to taking about $24,000 from the company.
Bortz, of Sinking Spring, was released on her own recognizance and is due back for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 26, court records show.
