'Carbon Monoxide Toxicity' Kills 5-Year-Old Boy On PA Farm, Coroner Says
A 5-year-old boy has been pronounced dead shortly after being found unresponsive on his family's farm, the York County Coroner's Office announced on Monday, Nov. 13. Daniel Esh of the 5400 block of Prospect Hill Road was found unconscious near a generator on Friday evening, according to York County Coroner Pam Gay. He was taken to WellSpan York Hospital were he died at 8:48 p.m. Nov. 10 as certified by Deputy Coroner Karen Frank. A 72-year-old man is dead after falling from a grain bin at his Upper Macungie home on Sunday, Oct. 29, according to officials. Dennis D. Schaffer was fixing a "malfunctioning unit" on a grain bin at his Main Street property around 10 a.m. when he slipped, said the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Schaffer fell 34 feet to the ground and was pronounced dead on-scene by 11 a.m., the coroner said. Authorities have identified the man hit and killed on New Falls Road in Levittown on Monday, Sept. 4, as 64-year-old Francisco Chavarria of Bristol. Chavarria died from multiple injuries, said the Bucks County Coroner's Office. The manner of death was ruled accidental. A 33-year-old Pennsylvania mom has died after part of a tractor broke off and hit her in the neck at a county fair, authorities said. Brandy Horner was watching the tractor pull at the Union Couty West End Fair when "an exhaust wheel within a turbo housing became dislodged and ejected from its manifold," the wheel "then ejected from the metal covering of the tractor," and a piece of the wheel broke off and became lodged in her neck, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. A man is dead after leaping into Lake Nockamixon to save two children who "appeared to be in distress," says the Bucks County Coroner's Office. It happened on Thursday, June 29, officials wrote in a release. Schuylkill County Driver, 83, Dies Months After Accident
A Schuylkill County man has died from injuries sustained in a crash that happened over three months ago, authorities say. Leroy K. Smith, 83, was the driver of a car that veered off the road and hit several parked vehicles in Hegins Township on March 6, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said in a release. Smith, of Barry Township, died from multiple traumatic injuries on Tuesday, June 27, the coroner said. The manner of death was ruled accidental. An Easton man is dead after being struck by a car while crossing a city street on Thursday, June 15. Saifeddin Alrefai, 77, of the West Ward, was walking across Larry Holmes Drive when he was hit, said Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek's Office in a release. Alrefai was rushed to the emergency room at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus where he was pronounced dead, officials said. A man lighting trash on fire suffered burns across more than half of his body, ultimately killing him, according to the Lehigh County coroner. Lutz K. Wundshock, 59, of Durham Township, was torching the trash around 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at his home, the coroner's office said.
