PA Therapist Accused Of Assaulting Children During Playdates, Therapy Session: Police

A Gettysburg therapist has been charged with multiple counts of indecent assault and corruption of minors after allegedly sexually assaulting three young girls during playdates and a therapy session, as detailed in court documents obtained by Daily Voice on Thursday, Feb, 20. 

David C. Mitchell, 55, is accused of inappropriately touching a 5-year-old, a 7-year-old, and a 9-year-old in separate incidents spanning several months in 2024, according to Cumberland Township Police.

The first alleged assault occurred at Mitchell's residence on Plank Road in Cumberland Township on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024. During a playdate, Mitchell reportedly placed his hand down the pants of a 5-year-old girl, identified as E.A., touching her inappropriately, police said.

Another victim, a 7-year-old girl identified as S.A., told investigators that Mitchell touched her while assisting her onto a zipline at his home in the fall of 2024. She described Mitchell placing his hand under her shirt onto her belly and sliding his fingertips into her pants, authorities said.

A third victim, 9-year-old A.B., reported that Mitchell, whom she referred to as "Dr. Dave," massaged her shoulders and upper chest area during a therapy session at his office on Carlisle Street in Gettysburg Borough on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, police said.

Forensic interviews with all three girls were conducted at the Adams County Children's Advocacy Center, where they detailed the incidents to investigators.

Mitchell has been charged with three counts of Indecent Assault, two counts of Indecent Assault on a Child Under 13, and three counts of Corruption of Minors. The case remains under investigation.
