A former 8th-grade math teacher at a South Philadelphia school has been charged with unlawful contact with a teenage girl, records show. Michael O'Brien, 48, taught 8th grade math at the Christopher Columbus Charter School starting in 2021, the school told Daily Voice. A murder-suicide is under investigation in Allentown, the Lehigh County Coroner announced on Thursday, Sept. 5. A 44-year-old woman from Allentown was found dead of a shooting at about 1:10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, in a home on the 2000 block of East Cedar St., according to the Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio. PSP Investigated 580 Crashes, Wrote 24,865 Tickets Over Labor Day Weekend
Pennsylvania State Police investigated 580 crashes over the four-day Labor Day weekend. From Friday, Aug. 30 to Monday, Sept. 2, those crashes resulted in 170 injuries and six deaths. Those totals were lower than the 671 crashes last Labor Day that resulted in 220 injuries and 10 deaths. Impaired driving was a factor in 65 of this year's crashes, three of which were fatal. Bucks County Man Pleads Guilty To Trafficking Fake Opioid Pills Online
A 38-year-old man from Bucks County pleaded guilty to trafficking counterfeit opioid pills. Robert Davis, 36, of Bensalem, pleaded guilty on Aug. 28, according to U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero. The pills were meant to be used as props in films but were instead used by drug dealers billed as oxycodone or Xanax, Romero said.
