Norristown Police Chief Resigns Effective Immediately Jacqueline Bailey-Davis has resigned as the Municipality of Norristown Chief of Police, effective immediately, officials announced Tuesday, Dec. 17. Bailey-Davis, who took office on Jan. 2, 2024, had been placed on administrative leave on Nov. 25. Edward Gomery Wanted In Machete Attack Captured With help from Norristown police, a man wanted in a machete attack was taken into custody Wednesday morning, Sept. 11 without incident, authorities said. Edward Gomery, 56, is suspected in "an aggravated assault involving a machete" on another man he knew on Aug. 27, Upper Merion police said on Monday, Sept. 9.
