ID'd Released Of 21-Year-Old Woman Struck, Killed By Garbage Truck Near Long Island Mall A 21-year-old woman was struck and killed by a garbage truck just yards from Roosevelt Field Mall in Carle Place early Friday, Dec. 6, Nassau County police announced. Mahiat Hossen, 21, of Bellerose, was attempting to cross Old Country Road northbound near the intersection with Glen Cove Road around 5:30 a.m. when she was hit by a 2016 Mack garbage truck traveling eastbound, police said.  The area has a four-way crosswalk, according to Google Maps Street View, but it is not immediately clear if she was using them.  Hossen suffered catastrophic injuries to her head and body.
