Authorities are asking for the public’s help after someone intentionally set fire to a Long Island church. The incident happened in Hempstead, at the La Cosecha Community Church on Greenwich Street, at around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024. Nassau County Police said a man broke into Franklin Square’s St. Catherine of Sienna Church, located on Holzheimer Street, shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. After forcing open a locked basement door, the man pried his way into a donation box and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
