Death Of 7-Year-Old NY Boy Ruled Homicide After 3 Years Three years after a 7-year-old boy was found dead in his upstate New York home, police have ruled his death a homicide. Hunter Degroat was found unresponsive at a Fulton County residence in Johnstown on the afternoon of Aug. 9, 2022, according to New York State Police. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Three years would go by with no updates in the case, until Thursday, Feb. 20, when State Police revealed that Hunter died from blunt force trauma to his head, and officially ruled the death a homicide. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 5 p.m., Thursday, on Cannon Street in the city of Poughkeepsie.
