Alan "Alina" Abad, 19, of Westwood, New Jersey, was arraigned on Tuesday, Feb. 25, in Rockland County Court, where a grand jury indicted them on one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II.

Prosecutors allege that on Saturday, Feb. 15, around 6:30 p.m., Abad beat their two aunts, Evelyn Aguilar-Agustin and Anabelly Aguilar, to death inside a home on Gesner Drive in Spring Valley.

Those who knew Abad tell Daily Voice they identify as a female, however, police and prosecutors identify Abad as a male.

According to the indictment, Aguilar-Agustin suffered blunt force trauma to the head, face, and abdomen, which caused her death. Meanwhile, Aguilar suffered severe head and neck trauma, cervical spine fractures, and brain hemorrhages, leading to her death.

Spring Valley Police arrested Abad less than 24 hours after the murders, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

Before the attack, Abad posted a TikTok video eating pizza with one of the victims, captioned: "I love my auntie.☺️" They also shared another video of themselves dancing outside, appearing carefree hours before the brutal killings took place.

Prosecutors allege that Abad first attacked Aguilar-Agustin to prevent her from calling the police, then fatally struck Aguilar before she could do the same.

"The victims, who were aunts of the defendant, were brutally and senselessly murdered. We will seek justice for the victims and their families, and I offer my sincere condolences to the surviving family members," Walsh said in a statement on Tuesday.

Abad remains held without bail at Rockland County Jail and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted.

As the Spring Valley community mourns, a GoFundMe campaign has been created to help the victims' families cover funeral expenses.

As of Tuesday, the page had collected nearly $15,000 out of a $26,000 goal. Those interested in donating can click here to contribute.
