Victim Identified After Pedestrian Killed In SUV Crash On Long Island (Updated) Police have identified the elderly man killed by an SUV while walking on Long Island. James Johnson Jr., 76, of Hempstead, has been identified as the victim, the Nassau County Police Department said Wednesday, May 20. The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Henry Street in Hempstead at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, according to Nassau County Police. Detectives said the 76-year-old man was hit by a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder operated by a 47-year-old woman.
