An accused hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a mother and her teenage son on Long Island was formally charged.
Jamal Graham, age 30, of Central Islip, was indicted on assault and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Monday, July 8, in connection with the May 2023 crash.
Prosecutors said Graham was speeding in an Infiniti sedan on Hale Street in Brentwood when he ran a stop sign at Lincoln Avenue and crashed into a Nissan SUV at around 11:30 p.m. on May 29, 2023.

Two Long Island men were nabbed for allegedly stealing used cooking oil from 14 businesses.
Oliver Lorenzo Valdez, age 30, of Central Islip, and Juan Hernandez, age 28, of Brentwood, were charged on Tuesday, June 25, after being spotted behind the Gourmet Garden in Center Moriches.
According to Suffolk County Police, officers responded to a 911 caller reporting that two men stole used cooking oil from Mama Lisa Restaurant at 1226 Montauk Highway in Mastic and fled the scene in a white Ford van at 6:15 a.m. June 26.

2 Women Charged After Raid At Selden Massage Parlor
Two women are facing charges after a raid at a Long Island massage parlor.
In response to numerous community complaints, authorities conducted an investigation into Jixiang Spa in Selden, located at 721 Middle Country Road, on Wednesday afternoon, June 12.
Two employees, Queens residents Jiangnan Tong, age 46, and Wenjing Guo, age 39, both of Flushing, were each charged with unauthorized practice of a profession, a Class E felony.
Tong and Guo were issued field appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip later.

Eight New Yorkers who owned, operated, or were employees of several transportation companies have been accused of scamming the government out of millions of dollars for services never provided.
The indictments were unsealed on Long Island at federal court in Central Islip on Tuesday, June 11.
