Driver Tried Killing Woman With Her Car During Dispute At Bellport Shopping Center, DA Says A Long Island woman is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly striking another woman with her car. Philomena Mistretta, age 51, of Coram, was indicted on multiple charges in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, Nov. 8, in connection with an incident at North Bellport’s Miracle Plaza on Montauk Highway. Person Hospitalized After 2-Vehicle Coram Crash A person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle overnight Long Island crash. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in Coram. A 47-year-old Coram man was riding a bicycle northbound on West Yaphank Road, south of Beach Lane, when he was struck by a northbound 2015 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 48-year-old woman. The bicyclist was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Grace, The driver of the Sonata was not injured. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 2:40 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, in LaGrange. According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, an initial investigation determined Joseph W. LaFave, age 35, of LaGrange, driving a 2017 BMW X1, traveled north in the southbound lane on the Taconic State Parkway in the area of Todd Hill Road.  Hicks said LaFave struck a 2017 Lincoln Navigator head-on in the left southbound lane.
