Death Of 7-Year-Old Capital Region Boy Ruled Homicide After 3 Years Three years after a 7-year-old boy was found dead in his upstate New York home, police have ruled his death a homicide. Hunter Degroat was found unresponsive at a Fulton County residence in Johnstown on the afternoon of Aug. 9, 2022, according to New York State Police. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Fulton County resident Chance Petteys, age 21, of Johnstown, was arrested Monday, June 17, on suspicion of official misconduct and related charges following an investigation by New York State Police.
