Two Arrests Made In Dad's Wantagh Roadside Robbery-Killing

Police have charged two men in the killing of a 32-year-old Amityville man found dead on a Wantagh roadway in September, according to Nassau County authorities.

Police say Anderson Ramirez, 34, of Central Islip, and Alex R. DeLarosa, 27, of Bay Shore, were arrested on Dec. 4 in connection to the fatal shooting of Yinauri A. Taveras, 32. The victim, originally from Amityville, had been splitting time between Puerto Rico and Westbury.

Officers responded to Wayside Lane in Wantagh on Sept. 11, 2024, at 12:13 a.m. for a report of an injured person. They found Taveras on the roadside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, detectives said.

Both Ramirez and DeLarosa are charged with second-degree murder and second-degree robbery. They are scheduled for arraignment on Dec. 5, 2024, at First District Court in Hempstead, police reported.

Taveras is survived by his wife, Stephanie Vega; their 4-year-old son, Gianni Antonio, his mother; Rudmelis; his stepfather; Javier, his brothers and sisters, his nieces and nephews, and his extended family and friends who loved him deeply, his obituary on the Lindenhurst Funeral Home website says.

The investigation is ongoing, authorities stated.
