Man From Region Killed By Trooper After Pulling Gun, Police Say A distraught man from the region who threatened self-harm was shot and killed by New York State troopers after allegedly pulling a gun. The incident occurred in Saratoga County around 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, on Route 9 in the parking lot of Bethel Saratoga in Saratoga Springs. According to New York State Trooper Stephanie O'Neil, troopers were searching for Columbia County resident James Dellea, age 48, of Hillsdale, who had threatened self-harm. State Trooper From Region Suspended Without Pay After Being Accused Of Robbery A New York State Trooper has been suspended without pay following his arrest for an alleged robbery in the region. The arrest occurred in Sullivan County in the village of Liberty on Tuesday, Aug. 13, for an incident in 2023. According to Beau Duffy, director of Public Information for the State Police, Trooper Christopher DiBartolo, age 47, was charged following an investigation into an incident that occurred outside a Liberty home in which he took personal property from the victim, who was known to him, while on duty, causing damage.
