Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

At around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, officers were called to the 1100 block of Bryans Point Road to investigate a reported crash that led to the death of Capitol Heights resident Cadence Cox. Police say that the driver - who suffered non-life-threatening injuries - was heading west on Bryans Point Road when they lost control and smashed into a tree. Improperly Discarded Ashes Spark Bel Air House Blaze, Maryland Fire Marshal Says Improperly discarded ashes from a bonfire during the unseasonably warm start to fall led to a house fire in Harford County, the Maryland Fire Marshal is cautioning.
