Voters nationally prefer Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris over her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, a brand-new survey by Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey shows. The seven-point margin (50 to 43) is largely due to race and gender, the FDU poll shows. Woman Accused Of Stealing Dog In Capital Region
A 46-year-old woman from the region was arrested this week after police said she and another woman stole two dogs from a home earlier this month. Shalon Jones, of Albany, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and hindering prosecution, Albany police said. She was remanded to the Albany County jail, authorities continued. A man from the region will spend the next four decades to life behind bars after being convicted of the murder of a woman in 2022, authorities said. Rensselaer County resident Tyshaun Purvis, age 33, of Troy, was sentenced to 34 years to life in prison Thursday, Aug. 22, for the fatal daylight shooting of Dominique Eley, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office said. Police say a man from the region attempted to escape after they found eight pounds of methamphetamines during a traffic stop earlier this week, but he didn't make it very far. A 27-year-old Connecticut man is accused of carrying on a consensual sexual relationship with a 15-year-old in a neighboring county in New York, authorities announced.
