Police Officer Rescues Hudson Valley Driver From Fiery Wreck
A fast-acting police officer responding to a crash dragged an unconscious Rockland County driver to safety moments before the man's minivan went up in flames. The minivan had slammed into a utility pole in New Jersey, splitting it at the base, on East Saddle River Road south of Lake Street just after midnight Thursday, Upper Saddle River Police Capt. Morris County Motorcyclist, 39, Killed In Upper Bergen GSP Crash Involving Rockland Driver
A 39-year-old Morris County motorcyclist was killed in a Friday night crash on the Garden State Parkway in Washington Township, authorities said. Preliminary indications were that a southbound Honda sedan driven by a 43-year-old Nanuet man "entered the lane of travel" of a Yamaha motorcycle driven by Simon Kerns of Chatham near Exit 166 just after 6 p.m., NJ State Trooper Charles Marchan said. The Yamaha struck the left side of the Honda, ejecting Kerns, the trooper said. A witness told Daily Voice it appeared he'd been thrown nearly 30 feet. Kerns was later pronounced dead at The Valley …

Falling Glen Rock Tree Limb Cracks Mercedes Windshield; Driver Hospitalized With Head Injuries
A falling tree limb cracked the windshield on a Mercedes Benz that had just exited Route 208 northbound in Glen Rock Sunday afternoon, sending the driver to the hospital with non life-threatening head injuries. The SUV's adult male driver was transported by Glen Rock EMS to Hackensack University Medical Center from De Boer Drive. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Glen Rock EMTs with patient evaluation. The driver was the only occupant in the Mercedes when the tree limb hit it. Bicyclist Struck By SUV Seriously Injured In Paramus
An SUV struck and seriously injured a bicyclist who cracked the vehicle's windshield Thursday on Paramus Road in Paramus. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after being struck just south of West Midland Avenue. The visibly distraught driver remained at the scene and was hospitalized, as well. A flatbed tow truck lifted the SUV off the damaged bicycle and removed the vehicle from the scene. Elderly Driver Hospitalized After SUV Slams Into Glen Rock Utility Pole
GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- An elderly driver was hospitalized after SUV slammed head-on into a utility pole Sunday night in Glen Rock. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood assisted Glen Rock EMTs in tending to the woman, who was conscious when she was brought to Hackensack University Center following the Harristown Road crash. The Toyota was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck, whose driver also tended to a significant fluid leak. A PSE&G crew also responded. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this report.
