Meeting Explains New Electric School Buses Coming To Hudson Valley School District
Residents will have a chance to ask questions during an upcoming meeting when they will be asked to approve spending $2.27 million on electric school buses in a school district in the region. The meeting is in Dutchess County from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School at 156 S Cross Road in Staatsburg. Moody's Increases Rockland's Bond Rating To A1
Despite being in the midst of a global pandemic, Moody’s Investigators Service has increased Rockland County’s bond rating. This week, Moody’s announced that Rockland’s rating has been upped from A2 to A1. According to Moody’s, the upgrade of the rating to A1 reflects the county's recently improved financial position which is being challenged with sales tax and state aid losses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We regard the coronavirus outbreak as a social risk under our ESG framework, given the substantial implications for public health and safety,” Moody’s evaluators stated. “The …

19: State Orders Schools To Cancel Spring Recess, Continue Remote Learning
School districts in New York have been instructed to forego traditional spring recess and continue distance learning as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to plague the state. With schools statewide shut down through at least Wednesday, April 15 due to the virus, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order requiring that remote teaching continues to that date. Increased State Aid Could Lead To Full Day Kindergarten At North Rockland
HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Could full-day kindergarten be finally coming to North Rockland? Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposed budget would increase state aid to districts who adopt full-day kindergarten. The North Rockland school district is one of five districts in the state that does not offer full-day kindergarten. Cuomo's proposal would offer funding the first year and then the state would cover half the costs in the second year. Currently, districts must pay for all of the costs in year two.
