With Rockland County now reporting nine positive cases of the novel strain of the coronavirus (COVID-19), a site for possible exposure has been released. The site is the Prince & Princess children’s clothing store at 421 Route 59, Suite 5 in Monsey with the potential exposure occurring from Tuesday, March 10 through Thursday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert announced. Three Rockland Businesses Charged With Selling To Minors In Underage Detail
Three clerks at Rockland County businesses were busted during an undercover sting operation selling alcohol to minors. This week, the Ramapo Police Department and Rockland County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children conducted a compliance check of area businesses, using undercover operatives under the age of 21 to purchase booze without proper ID. Photos: Car Bursts Into Flames On Route 59
Temperatures continue to rise in the region, but things got a little too hot to handle for a driver and his daughter when his car suddenly burst into flames while he was driving in Rockland County. The Ramapo Police Department received a report at approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, from a motorist who stated that his car was on fire in the parking lot of Chase Bank on Route 59 in Monsey. Three Injured After Car Crashes Into Route 59 Utility Pole
Three people were injured after a driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and crossed over a double yellow line and struck a utility pole in Rockland County, police said. Officers from the Ramapo Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Route 49 west of Robert Pitt Drive in Monsey shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 16. With the continue measles outbreak in Rockland County, health officials announced a new measles exposure site in the Monsey area. Officials said on Friday, July 12 there is a chance of exposure to anyone who visited the Auction Mart (Appliance), located at 75 Route 59, Monsey, on Friday, July 5, from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a risk of the exposure until 1:30 p.m. These times reflect the period that the infected individuals were in this area and a two-hour period after they left the area because the virus remains in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours. Gas Line Struck, Causing Route 59 Closure
Contractors struck a natural gas line on Route 59 in Monsey, causing part of the roadway to be closed to traffic, according to Ramapo Police. The incident took place around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in front of 156 Route 59, police said. The road is closed from Augusta Avenue to Remsen Avenue with a detour set-up to guide drivers.
