Rockland Covid-19 Death Toll Reaches 500: Rundown Of Cases By Municipalities As the number of deaths related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) hit the 500 mark in Rockland County,  the number of new cases saw a slight uptick for a total of 11,586. That number released on Wednesday, April 29, represents 133 new cases, up from the 86 new cases reported on Monday, April 27, according to the state Department of Health. Number Of Rockland County Covid-19 Cases Climbs Past 10,000: Rundown By Municipalities The number of new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Rockland County has jumped over the 10,000 mark with a total of 10,091 positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic. That number represents 263 new cases, according to the state Department of Health. There have been 453 deaths from the virus in the county. Day Declines To Renew Rockland's State Of Emergency For Measles Rockland County Executive Ed Day announced that he will not renew the state of emergency order enacted earlier this year in an effort to stem the rise of measles cases during the 10-month outbreak.  The state of emergency, which expires at midnight Wednesday, July 25 was declared on March 25 and has since been renewed three times.  The order, which banned unvaccinated and exposed people from public spaces, was a "last straw" effort to contain the continually growing number of measles cases in the county which began with visitors to and from Israel in October 2018.
