Longtime Putnam County resident Dennis Leonard, a 1992 graduate of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, was 47 years old. He excelled on both the varsity football and lacrosse teams before attending Salisbury University in Maryland, where he was a member of back-to-back undefeated NCAA champion lacrosse teams. He died on Friday, Nov. 12 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. Bobcat Caught On Camera In Area A local family got an unexpected visitor when a bobcat was caught on camera making the rounds in its backyard. Man Wanted For Stealing $180K Nabbed At Taconic Parkway Work Zone A man wanted for stealing $180,000 has been arrested during a traffic stop at a work zone in the area. Joshua C. Allen, 19, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 17 on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam County as a fugitive from justice out of Bossier, Louisiana, said State Police Trooper AJ Hicks. Allen was stopped around 11:20 a.m., in a 2016 Nissan Altima for a vehicle and traffic law infraction committed in a work zone on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Putnam Valley, Hicks said. Alert Issued For Man Wanted In Area The Putnam County Sheriff's Department is seeking the assistance of the public to find a man wanted on a bench warrant. Mark Kombert of Putnam Valley, 57, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  He stands at 5-foot-11, weighs 180 pounds, and has brown hair and green eyes.  Anyone who has information to his whereabouts should contact the Sheriff’s Department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation at (845) 225-4300.
