Hours-Long Fire Severely Damages Rockland Shopping Center
UPDATE: Six firefighters were hospitalized with minor injuries from a stubborn noontime blaze that broke out in a basement gun range, spread through a Rockland County shopping center and continued burning late into the night on Sunday, Nov. 28, authorities confirmed. Neighbors Help Rescue Residents After House Fire Breaks Out In Blauvelt
A collaborative effort between emergency responders and local residents helped save seven people after a house fire broke out in Blauvelt. The Orangetown Police Department responded to a working house fire on Glynn Oval in Blauvelt just before 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16. Numerous homeowners on Glynn Oval observed a large amount of smoke coming from a neighbor's attic vent, police said. Power Saw Causes Fire At Orangeburg Plastics Plant
This story has been updated. A power saw being used to dismantle an old tractor-trailer led to a large fire of three tractor-trailers and a dumpster at Aluf Plastics on Glenshaw Street in Orangeburg. The fires were reported around 2 p.m. Tuesday as a dumpster fire spread to the tractor-trailers that contain cardboard, Orangetown Police said. The Orangeburg, Blauvelt, Tappan, Piermont and Sparkill fire departments all responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire. Pearl River Fire Update: House Destroyed, Dog Missing
Two people were injured and a family dog is missing following a fire that destroyed a Pearl River home, according to the Orangetown Police Department. The fire started around 4:20 p.m. Monday at 314 Orangeburg Road, and within a couple of hours had reduced the home to rubble, according to Det. Sgt. James Sullivan. Upon arrival at the scene, patrol officers found the home to be fully engulfed in flames and one female resident, who was able to escape but was slightly injured, was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment.
