Cameo Agrees To Pay NY $25K For 'Misleading' Promotional Videos
Cameo will pay dozens of states, including New York, for failing to ensure customers knew that promotional videos on its site were actually paid endorsements. Baron App Inc., owner of the popular celebrity-shoutout-ordering website, agreed to pay $100,000 in penalties to 30 states as part of a settlement agreement reached Wednesday, July 24. New York will receive $25,000 of that, state Attorney General Letitia James said. Brothers From Hudson Valley Charged For Roles In Jan. 6 Attempted Coup
Two brothers from the Hudson Valley have become the latest in the region to be arrested and charged for their roles in the insurrection at the US Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6. Putnam County residents Greg Richard Purdy, Jr., a Carmel High School graduate, and Matthew Purdy, both of Kent, were arrested earlier this month following an investigation into social media posts made by the latter, bringing the total arrested for their roles in the arrested coup from the region up to 12.
