A community is doing its best to help a beloved basketball coach and bus monitor who was injured in a head-on crash between a car and a school bus in Northern Westchester. Basketball coach Jim Martin was severely injured on Wednesday, April 26 just before 3 p.m. when the school bus he was serving as a bus monitor on collided head-on with a Honda Accord driven by an unlicensed 16-year-old in New Castle on Lake Road. Report Of Shots Fired Causes HS To Be Placed On Lockdown In Northern Westchester: Police
A high school in Northern Westchester was placed on lockdown and inspected by authorities after a complaint of shots fired was reported, police said. The incident happened at 8 a.m. at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua when New Castle Police responded to an anonymous complaint of shots fired. Because of the complaint, the school was placed on lockdown, and responding officers checked the school. After a search of the building, the initial report was determined to be false, police said. Busy Roadway Reopens In Northern Westchester After Serious Crash
This story has been updated. A stretch of a busy roadway in Northern Westchester has now reopened after a serious crash. The closure on Route 117 in Chappaqua was in both directions by Kathleen Lane near the Mount Kisco border, according to New Castle Police. The crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Police have identified a man killed during a crash in Northern Westchester with a tow truck. Putnam County resident Andrew Vasquez, age 26, of Brewster, was killed around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 on Saw Mill River Road (Route 100) near the Taconic State Parkway in Millwood, police said. Person Stabbed At Popular Northern Westchester Deli During Argument, Police Say
A man was stabbed at Northern Westchester deli following an argument with another person. The incident took place around 3 a.m., Friday, June 25, at Rocky's Deli at 235 Saw Mill River Road in Millwood, said New Castle Police Det. Sgt. Chris Ragni. At least 14 people have now had confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) after a cluster broke out following a graduation ceremony in Northern Westchester. But this weekend, we have received word of a bear who's a real night owl - so to speak. A family in Dutchess County tells us the bear has made back-to-back evening visits the last two days.
