A serious crash closed a stretch of the Palisades Interstate Parkway Thursday afternoon, Jan. 16. Witnesses say that the driver was trying to make a U-turn when they were struck near Exit 1 in Fort Lee just after 3 p.m. Off-duty EMT Geoff Fallows was headed northbound when he spotted the crash in the shoulder of the southbound lanes, he tells Daily Voice. With an injured knee, Fallows — who was the Little Ferry EMS captain for 16 years — says he hobbled across the highway, where another gentleman was performing compressions on the driver. A head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver on Route 304 in New City left one man dead and two teenagers seriously injured on Monday, Dec. 23, Clarkstown Police reported. At approximately 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the scene near the intersection of Route 304 and Second Street. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 35-year-old man from Ohio, driving a 2010 black Hyundai sedan, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided head-on with a 2013 silver BMW. The BMW was occupied by an 18-year-old male driver and a 16-year-old female passenger, police said. …

: Pedestrian Struck By Truck Shuts Rockland County Road, Police Say
A pedestrian crash involving a truck shut down a Rockland County street Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5, authorities said. Clarkstown police reported the incident occurred on Prospect Street, which was closed between Grandview and Park Avenues as of 4 p.m. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours. A speeding driver escaped serious injury, but not traffic citations, after police say he caused a crash involving two tractor-trailers Tuesday morning, Dec. 3 on I-87 in Rockland County. Joseph T. Bonomi of Washingtonville, was cited for speeding and moving from the lane unsafely, and treated at Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries following the crash in the southbound lanes in Hillburn, State Police said. UPDATE: A driver from Rockland County died after his SUV slammed into a tree Tuesday afternoon on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Tenafly. Tenafly firefighters extricated Aron Yishai Unger, 61, of Spring Valley following the single-vehicle crash between Exits 1 and 2 of the southbound Parkway at 1:45 p.m., Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Lt.
