Months after the launch of a weekend ferry service between Westchester and Rockland counties, ridership is only going up, officials announced. Since weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry was started in May, ridership numbers have continued to climb each month, MTA officials announced on Wednesday, July 31. Thanks to quick-thinking Metro-North officials and first responders, a person who fell on electrified tracks at a Northern Westchester train station and his father, who leaped in to help him, were rescued from the perilous situation. Officials have released the identity of a man who was killed after being struck by a Metro-North train in the area. The incident occurred in Orange County ar 9 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Fowler Street grade crossing in the city of Port Jervis. The man, identified as Anthony R. Brooks, age 41, address unknown, was standing on the tracks when hit, MTA officials said.
