Federal Judge Esther Salas has spoken out about last month's shooting that killed her son and injured her husband, in a tearful video released Monday morning, Aug. 3.
Salas and her son, Daniel, 20, were chatting and cleaning up after a weekend of birthday celebrations for him at their North Brunswick, New Jersey home on Sunday, July 19.
Daniel turned to his mom and said, "'Mom, let's keep talking 'I love talking to you, Mom,' " the judge recounted.
That moment, the doorbell rang. Daniel looked at his mom and said, "Who is that?"

A taxi driver who stopped his cab on the shoulder of a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway before sexually assaulting a victim has been arrested after being located in Florida, police said.
State Police arrested Orlando Martinez Morales, 34, of Jacksonville, FL, on Thursday, Dec. 5, and charged him with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act, both Class B felonies, and forcible touching, a Class A misdemeanor.

Still No Decision On Criminal Charges By DA In Twins' Hot Car Death
A father who left his 1-year-old twins in a hot car where they died while he was at work will have to wait a bit longer to learn his fate.
Rockland County resident Juan Rodriguez, 39, of New City, appeared briefly in court on Thursday, Dec. 5, hoping to learn if the Bronx district attorney will proceed with criminal charges, but the prosecutor requested another adjournment. They did not say what was holding up the process.

Woman Behind Bars Following Fights, Punching Officer In Area, Police Say
A 65-year-old Ulster County woman is behind bars after allegedly injuring another woman during a fight.
Michelle Flanders, of Saugerties, was arrested at 7:32 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, after Saugerties Police responded to a fight between two women at 1016 Glasco Turnpike, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said.
When officers arrived on the scene they found that Flanders was at the location in violation of an order of protection, the chief said.
Sinagra said that Flanders struck the other woman, causing the victim to fall back down a staircase.
