New Housing Law In Hudson Valley County Aimed At Keeping Migrants Out
A new law just announced is aimed at keeping other cities and municipalities from bringing and housing people from out of the area to a certain Hudson Valley county. Rockland County officials including Executive Ed Day and Legislative Chair Jay Hood Jr. released the "Home Rule Autonomy in Housing Act," on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in an effort to help combat migrants being bused into the county from areas such as New York City. New Update: Train Slams Into Truck On Track In Hudson Valley
The driver of a tractor-trailer that was stuck on railroad tracks in the Hudson Valley was rescued by a police sergeant before the vehicle was hit by a train. The incident took place in Rockland County around 9:20 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 23 near the intersection of Route 9W and New Main Street in the town of Haverstraw, said Capt. John Gould of the Haverstraw Police. Gould said the tractor-trailer had bottomed out on the tracks and a passerby notified Sgt. Christian Mendez who happened to be patrolling in the area. Gas Sales Tax Cap To Take Effect In This Hudson Valley County
Motorists in one Hudson Valley county will see some financial relief at the gas pump as prices continue to rise to record levels nationwide. In Rockland County, beginning on Wednesday, June 1, the local sales cap tax on gas will be capped at $2 per gallon, amid the record spike in prices at the pump. 19: Grants Awarded To Hudson Valley Businesses For Outdoor Dining Expenses
Officials in a Hudson Valley county have announced the first businesses that will be reimbursed through a new grant program for outdoor dining equipment used to mitigate COVID-19. Rockland County Executive Ed Day announced the first four recipients of the "Reviving Rockland Restaurants Grant Program" on Thursday, March 24.
