Residents Evaluated After Bathroom Blaze Fills Hudson Valley Home With Smoke Residents were evaluated for smoke exposure following a bathroom fire in their Hudson Valley home.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, July 31 just before 6 a.m., when an oil burner malfunction was reported at a Mahopac home on Mountain View Drive.  According to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, arriving crews found smoke filling the residence and soon determined an oil burner did not cause the blaze but began in a bathroom wastebasket.  The blaze had already gone out by the time crews arrived and damaged the bathroom tile wall, the department added. Man, 55, Found Shot Dead In Hudson Valley Parking Lot Police are searching for a suspect after a 55-year-old man was found shot dead in a parking lot in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 10:20 p.m., Saturday, June 1, in the area of 472 Main St., in Poughkeepsie. According to Det. Lt. Matt Clark of the City of Poughkeepsie Police, responding officers found the man at the top of the parking area. Andrew Cuomo warned. There have now been 7,917 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New York overnight, bringing the statewide total to 83,712.
