Couple Faces Assault Charge After Incident In Area, State Police Say
A verbal altercation turned into a physical incident where a couple allegedly assaulted a woman and prevented her from calling 911, police said. Ulster County residents Richard Ronda, 41, and Julie Ronda, 36, both of Accord, went to a home in the hamlet on Thursday, May 7, and got into a verbal argument with the homeowner over a previous incident, according to state police.
The argument turned physical, with the Rondas repeatedly striking their victim in the head and face, taking her cell phone to prevent her from reporting the incident, police said.

A couple who allegedly hit a woman in the face and head during an argument and then stole her cell phone were arrested for third-degree assault.
The incident took place on Thursday, May 7, in Ulster County, when New York State Police responded to a home in Accord after receiving a 911 call from the victim, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Once on the scene, the victim told troopers Richard Ronda, age 41, and Julie Ronda, age 36, both from Accord, had come to her home to confront her over a previous incident.

Out Of State Man Nabbed For Attacking Person With Wrench, Fleeing Officers, Police Say
A 36-year-old out-of-state man was nabbed by police after allegedly attacking an area man with a wrench after entering his property.
The incident took place around 4:17 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, in Ulster County after police responded to a home on Route 9 in Saugerties for a report of a fight in progress.
When officers arrived on the scene the victim told them a man, later identified as Denis A. Shelagin of Spokane Valley, Washington, had entered his property, assaulted him with a wrench, and then fled the scene, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said.

Man Arrested For Violating No Harassment Order, Stalking Woman, Police Say
A 50-year-old Ulster man has been arrested for allegedly violating a no harassment order and began stalking the victim again.
Donald DeGroat, of Saugerties, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 20, for violating the no harass order, said Chief of Saugerties Police.
The chief said DeGroat's arrest came after he began following the victim around, calling the victim repeatedly, telling the victim he was watching her, and telling the victim each time where she was.
"The actions by Donald DeGroat placed the victim in fear," he said.

Man Held Woman By Throat, Pressed Pillow Over Her Face, Police Say
A 22-year-old man was arrested following a domestic dispute in which he allegedly held down the victim by her throat with a pillow over her face and nose.
Phillip G. Clemens, of New Paltz, was arrested around 6:45 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, after police responded to Hasbrouck Park for a call for help, said New Paltz Police Lt. Robert Lucchesi.

A man who was arrested for an alleged domestic dispute that ended with an officer injured was arrested again within 20 minutes after court under new bail reform laws.
The incident began around 7:20 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19, when New Paltz responded to a home on Colonial Drive for a report of a domestic assault, said New Platz Police Lt. Robert Lucchesi.

Man Charged With Burglary, Assaulting Two People In Area
A 39-year-old man was arrested after allegedly burglarizing a home and threatening two residents in the area.
Orange County resident Carl Wilson, 39, of the Town of Wallkill, was arrested around 7:42 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, after police responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Mud Mills Road, said the Town of Wallkill Police.
Once on the scene, officers found that Wilson had allegedly forcefully entered the home and demanded personal items and money from two residents inside, police said.
