'Simply Unrealistic': NY Republicans Want To 'Pump The Brakes' On Electric School Bus Mandate
A plan to mandate electric school buses on New York roadways in the next decade is meeting strong opposition from Republican state lawmakers. Several GOP state senators and assembly members were on hand at Long Island's Levittown Bus Depot on Sunday, Feb. 25 for a “Pump the Brakes” rally and press conference that was also attended by some fire safety and school officials. Attendees voiced their opposition to a state budget mandate that requires all new buses sold in New York to be zero-emission by 2027 and all buses on the road to be zero-emission by 2035. Simmering Tensions Between Pelosi, Ocasio-Cortez Boil Over Border Aid Package, Trump
U.S. Rep. and Westchester County high school grad Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are more divided than ever following congressional funding of security at the U.S.-Mexican border. Ocasio-Cortez took to social media this week, condemning McConnell and President Donald Trump for their roles in the ongoing shutdown, which is impacting upwards of 800,000 workers, including approximately 114,000 federal employees in the state she represents. “He’s not in the…

Rockland County Executive Ed Day and the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center’s Board of Directors are going to battle with Spring Valley officials after they failed to pass a resolution that would include their share of costs related to animal control. If Spring Valley refuses to pay their part, Board President Debbie DiBernardo said that Hi-Tor will no longer accept animals brought into the shelter by the Village of Spring Valley Police Department. Spring Valley residents bringing stray animals to the facility will be charged $750 for dogs and $500 for cats to be admitted to the shelter. The potenti…

$15M Proposal To Move Rockland Police Academy, County Medical Examiner
Rockland County Executive Ed Day has proposed an ambitious $15 million plan to move the Rockland County Sheriff’s Police Academy to the Pomona Health Conplex. Day's spokesman, John Lyon, confirmed plans that he said will be detailed during the county executive's annual state-of-the-county speech on Feb. 6. Police training currently is held in the basement of the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona. Day hopes to repurpose one of the buildings at the Pomona Health Complex to serve as the new academy, according to Lyon. A similar plan is proposed for the Rockland County Medical Ex…
