Bomb Threat At Hudson Valley High School Causes Evacuation, Police Say A Hudson Valley high school was evacuated after receiving a security threat involving explosives, police said. The incident took place in Rockland County at Suffern Senior High School in Suffern around 7 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21. According to Capt. Extinguished Fireworks Cause Heavy Fire To Break Out At Rockland House An area home suffered heavy damage from a fire started by fireworks thrown into a garbage can. The fire started around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at 116 Sutin Place in Chestnut Ridge, said the Ramapo Police Department. When police officers and firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the attic area and side of the home engulfed in flames. "It is believed that the fire was started by extinguished fireworks that were placed in the garbage, which was placed against the side of the residence," said the Ramapo Police. Man Struck By Car Pronounced Dead At Westchester Medical Center One of two pedestrians struck in a chain-reaction crash early Saturday afternoon was pronounced dead after being rushed to Westchester County Medical Center. The incident occurred just past noontime in Rockland County on Scotland Hill Road in the Village of Chestnut Ridge. A 67-year-old Spring Valley man was operating a 2009 Hyundai southbound when it struck the resident of the Orange County village of Washingtonville, Ramapo Police said.
